Caoimhe Hopkinson is a multi-instrumentalist from Westport in Co. Mayo. Having grown up in a musical household surrounded by traditional Irish and Okinawan music, the inspiration and drive to pursue music was present from a young age.
She went on to study jazz guitar through the Berklee track course in Newpark Music Centre, before graduating with a BA in Commercial Modern Music from BIMM Dublin. She now works as a session musician, songwriter and musical director.
She plays for a number of artists including Allison Russell, Shawn James, Pauline Scanlon, Róisín Ó, and Glasshouse.
Fluent in a number of styles, Caoimhe’s main interest is in folk music and fingerstyle acoustic guitar playing. Her own personal projects have strong traditional influences in the sound and instrumentation, and she fosters an organic approach to writing and recording.
