Bold Boy is the brain-child of Mike Paterson and Nathan Merrimen. Paterson is an acclaimed song-writer, with credits ranging from beloved underground rock band Travis Oaks, to self produced indie folk (his EP "Devils In The Water" was released via the Homebeat Presents Label). Merrimen was previously the drummer for punk band Chinese Newspaper.

Formed in late 2023, Paterson was looking for an outlet to return to writing heavier music, and was excited by the creative constraints that comes with a two-piece. Bold Boy are a real passion project, with Paterson producing, mixing, and in some cases even recording all the material himself.
They've been experimenting with their sound, with previous releases dipping into influences in Post Punk, to Garage, to Alt Rock. With a focus on eye catching, engaging content creation, Bold Boy have built a healthy following online and have plans for numerous releases in 2026.
