Aoife Moriarty is an independent singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Dublin, Ireland. Her music blends a jazz-folk sensibility with impressionistic lyrics, drawing from acoustic storytelling traditions, indie pop, and a theatrical streak rooted in visual art and design. She also holds an MFA in Fashion Design.
Raised in the suburbs of Dublin and classically trained before veering into songwriting, Aoife developed her craft across music, visual art, and production, later completing an MA in Music Technology at the University of Limerick. Her thesis took the form of a live performance work for voice and electronics inspired by Frankenstein.
After releasing her debut album Dolls & Jigsaws in 2009 to critical acclaim, Aoife continued writing quietly for years before returning with a new body of work shaped by time, distance, and what she describes as “a lot of living.” Her forthcoming album Artefact (working title) was written entirely on acoustic guitar — her “other” instrument — and explores memory, longing, absurdity, childlessness, and love in its stranger forms, with arrangements that nod to classic folk, vintage rock, and jazz.
Following the releases of Dodo, Overlove, and Dark Secret in 2025, Aoife returned to the stage with stripped-back solo performances at Whelan's. She released Gowns in February 2026 and Tangled in May 2026, both independently on Bandcamp. The album is due for release in late 2026.
