Andy Mooney is a sound designer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist with over 20 years of experience at the intersection of music, technology, and storytelling. His practice blends composing, field recordings, ambisonics, and binaural drones to create immersive sonic worlds. He has collaborated with some notable partners and on projects such as “DEEP” VR (monobanda), Science Gallery Dublin, GEMH Lab, and the VR project “The Shape Of Us” with HeartWire, pushing the boundaries of how sound can shape digital and physical experiences. As a performer and composer, he improvises and composes with the musical groups AMOON, Biological Speculation and Secret Sonic Cinémathèque, exploring the interplay between live performance and experimental soundscapes. Beyond his artistic practice, he is passionate about nurturing creativity in others, facilitating music workshops for Deis primary and secondary schools, as well as youth groups connecting communities through sound and collaborative making.
