After a silence spanning fifteen years, amancalledjamie returns to the Irish folk scene with a collection of songs shaped by time, vulnerability, and the melancholic beauty of the Irish landscape.
For a decade and a half, Jamie Hughes held these stories close, unsure if they would ever see the light of day. It was the intervention of producer Sarah Power that finally allowed them to be heard. Power didn’t just produce the record; she rescued the songs, bringing in an ensemble of master musicians to flesh out the soundscapes Jamie had carried for so long.
The result is an record of rare intimacy. Anchored by Cillian Byrne on double bass and the soaring strings of Gareth Quinn Redmond. Together with Power’s own delicate piano work, they create a safe harbor for Jamie’s storytelling.
These are songs about holding on, until the very moment you are ready to let go.
