Ain't Saint John
"a grand knack for the right subtle musical touches to best brandish his lyrics." (Jim Carroll, The Ticket)
Ain't Saint John is singer, songwriter and piano player John Mac Naeidhe, who grew up surrounded by the pine forestry of Forth Mountain, looking out over the Saltee Islands off the Southern Coast of Wexford. Growing up in such a beautiful place and the nurturing environment of a creative and musical household is echoed in his debut The Grow Yourself EP, released in May 2014. His songs are "a nice blend of americana and folk music with glimpses of Elliot Smith and Bill Callahan"(John Barker, 98FM).
The Grow Yourself EP features John Mac Naeidhe on lead vocal and piano with his band, guitarist Chris Barry, bassist Tom Mulrooney, drummer David Blaney, singers Holly Pereira and Alison Byrne and additional musicians Derenik Kolaiain on trombone and Christophe Capewell on violin. You can buy it now as a digital download on Bandcamp and it will soon be available on 12" Vinyl and CD formats.
