Double Screen is Dónal Sharpson, a versatile music producer, DJ and live electronica performer from Dublin. His project ‘Double Screen’ is about creating atmospheric, melodic sounds that are reminiscent of artists such as Jamie XX, Bonobo, and SBTRKT.

Double Screen's live show contains live processed vocals, drum pads, synths and an electronic performance. It can also be seen as an audio/visual set with original Double Screen visuals.

Dónal Sharpson produces a whole range of genres under different monikers including ‘Sharpson’, ‘Tooka’ and ‘Granny’. As well as DJing all over Ireland, holding several residencies in Dublin City, he is also accustomed to playing abroad (UK, Czech Republic, Greece, Malta) with other projects as well as his own.

Double Screen’s sound is mainly influenced UK Break music from the 90’s, including Drum & Bass, IDM and Breakbeat, as well as orchestral and classical music, which he studied getting his Bachelor's degree in Mater Dei Institute in Dublin. Double Screen is also known for his fusion of Liquid Drum & Bass and Dublin rap with Hip-Hop group 5th Element, who pioneered a their own individual style.

“....a Bonobo-esque sound, an upbeat feel good mix of brass, playful synths, afro drum beats and catchy riffs that will set you in a happy trance. This one is sure to fill the dance floor in clubs around Ireland soon.” -Nialler9 Blog

“He’s more of an engineer than a producer, he composes music rather than just put loops together.
-Ger Kellett on DoubleScreen, District Magazine.

“...a hyper-paced piece that ripples dizzyingly courtesy of Double Screen, it’s pace is rapid and there's a determination to drive home what the trio are all about as the plonky beats escalate and hammer down….Double Screen destroys it in the most gratuitously enjoyable way to wrap up proceedings courtesy of yet another drum and bass extravaganza.”
