The Q

Rock // Derry, Derry

THE Q is an amalgamation of audio misfits from Derry City. Their sound is a representation of their appreciation of garage bands, early alternative bands and assorted current bands.

‘…all chest-out attitude and untameable riffs.’ –Hotpress Magazine

'Raw energy of the performance...guitars blaring...one hell of a riff!'-NME

The band is building up a reputation for putting on an explosive live show driven by raw energy and a set filled with memorable tunes. Highlights for The Q have included the Glasgowbury Festival, for three consecutive years, Hard Working Class Hero’s Festival 2010 in Dublin and supporting General Fiasco. Most recently the band have managed to capture their live sound, recording their track “Rednecks” straight to vinyl with the help of Never Records.

“Rolling Stones + Kasabian + Derry accents = bloody good time”. -BBC ATL on Glasgowbury 2010

The Q has been featured in the ATL Best of Sessions for BBC 2. Following this, The BBC has maintained their interest in the band with regular airplay on Radio Ulster's ATL and Electric Mainline shows, as well as in Britain through Rory McConnell’s and Steve Lamacq's shows on Radio 1, as well as regular play and a Studio 8 Session for Dan Hegarty (2FM).

‘If I really wanted a party to kick off, I’d get The Q.’–Rory McConnell, BBC Radio 1

'Loved The Q as usual, Paul is a great front man and lyricist' – BBC ATL TV

At the beginning of 2011, The Q underwent a lineup change bringing in a new guitarist and drummer and they are currently writing and recording new material; which they will be touring the UK and Ireland within the next few months.
