Rokaia

Rokaia is a sonic artist and researcher based in Limerick City, Ireland. While her compositions touch on conceptual ideas and explore the unknown sonic territory, her academic work looks at the science and perception of sound, as well as auditory memory mechanisms. Rokaia works to merge her two focus-areas into conceptual sonic art-pieces.

Her most recent 5-piece release, "Still" implements a variety of vocal processing and layering techniques to create experimental electronic soundscapes. The five compositions tie in with a number of experimental performance aspects, as she layers song-like structures with mellow electronic soundscapes, largely made up of her own processed vocal samples.

In her live performance, Rokaia aims to critically engage with and her audience, and allow them to openly interpret and appreciate her work within their own personal perceptual confines.
