‘First Rate FUNK! Delivered Straight to Your SOUL’

…..is exactly what’s packed into the three and a half minutes of a song by The Near Future! The brand new Irish pop project which takes its cue from the traditions and standards set by the best pop song writing of the last fifty years!! Then fusing it with the most distinctive elements of Funk and Soul music to create an original and invigorated pop sound all of its own!!!

Written, recorded and performed by musicians who exude a passion and love for music. There’s both an uplifting and soulful energy infusing songs by The Near Future! which can be heard immediately!! Whether locked into the groove or caught up in the hook there’s an unmistakeable quality to The Near Future! which puts it firmly in line with any other funky, soulful pop music of the last few decades!!!

Written, rehearsed and recorded in various house’s and studio’s around West London over eighteen months, the ’A Little Understanding E.P’ is a combination of Cork born singer Louise Murphy’s angelic and jazz tinged yet powerful, soul stirring vocals, and the highly personal yet easily accessible and upbeat song writing of Limerick born songwriter and musician Mark Hayes that gives The Near Future! a sound all of its own!!!

Based around the area’s of Acton and Ealing in West London from 2005 until late 2010, Mark Hayes developed his own song writing whilst studying music at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance and Tech Music Schools - London College of Music.

Working with some fantastic session musicians and a number of different singers the ‘A Little Understanding E.P’ was nearly completed and finished, when by chance Mark heard Louise Murphy singing at a gig! So impressed by the young singer who had won the Tech Music Schools vocal scholarship and who’s jazzy yet soulful vocals perfectly complimented the funky, laid back grooves of Mark’s songs. The pair went back into the studio and re-recorded all the vocals and harmonies for the five track E.P! Resulting in the extraordinarily mature and polished pop sound that has been described by BBC Radio as, ‘Great Infectious Tunes!’.

Whilst these are early days for The Near Future! This brand new Irish pop projects constantly expanding and developing body of material which the five tracks on the ‘A Little Understanding E.P.’ represents, and the desire to have it heard by an audience which has always appreciated great music!! You can be sure to expect more great things in….
