MUGGER DAVE

Indie // Galway, Galway

‘Mugger Dave have Immediately distinctive, powerfully tight and forceful music- Custom Made for Radio, expect to hear a lot more from Mugger Dave’- HOTPRESS

Press Release: True to their belief in "loud and live", Galwegian trio-Mugger Dave- recorded and mixed their own E.P with confidence in their experience, having rehearsed and gigged extensively since the formation of the band in 2007. 2008 started solidly for the band with a growing fan base, a performance on TG4's Sile show, and inclusion on the IMRO 2008 Showcase tour. Their song, ‘My Life In Circles’, was featured on the IMRO Showcase CD and distributed nationally with the Daily Star. The band are currently preparing for the release of their debut album, "What's She Doing Here?” Prior to that they release their Single ‘Got A Lot On My Mind’ and are currently embarking on a nationwide tour playing such venues as The Roisin Dubh in Galway, and Cyprus Avenue in Cork and other venues Nationwide. Already receiving massive airtime on the back of ‘Got A Lot On My Mind’, the likes of Phantom FM, RTE, Beat FM, WLRFM, LIVE95 and many more are starting to take notice of this band.

Pop/Rock trio 'Mugger Dave' comprise of Simon Noble (Lead Vocals / Guitar), Seán Herriott (Bass / Backing Vocals) & Níall Curran (Drums). Simon- once he was informed of his workmate Niall's drumming talents- suggested forming a band along with Niall’s flat mate Seán. The name ‘Mugger Dave’ comes from Simon's childhood, when his younger sister had two imaginary friends: 'Mugger Dave' & 'Girlie No.1'. Simon took this as his band name 15 years later on but dropped 'Girlie' as it was a bit too long and unmanly. (They also couldn't decide who would be Girlie No.1 and where the rest of the Girlies had gone, which caused much sadness). November of 2007 saw the launch of their debut E.P. '& Girly No. 1' in The Cellar bar, Galway. Which was well received by listeners and critics alike – "The sheer quality and intricacy of the music and vocals combined will keep you listening for a long time"; "The music is very good and the vocals are among the best I've heard." -as described by the net-based 'Galway music scene'. "One of the best new bands of 2007"– Alan Murphy, Galway Bay FM.

The band’s intention from the start was to play a collection of pop songs as loud and as forcibly as possible by a power trio. The group's collective experience shows in the tightness of their performance, with all three members knowing exactly what they want to create: a hard-hitting rock band, with catchy, feel-good melodies reminiscent of the Kinks, underlined by driving bass lines and a heavy, no-nonsense, drumbeat. Their energetic live shows are driven by the powerhouse rhythm section and overlaid with unique melodies and imaginative harmonies. Simon describes his lyrics as being "an infectious blend of coy coyness and social satire". 2009 will see Mugger Dave touring and building on their fan base.

‘Listen hard and listen well’- is their request to you.
