Formed out of creative necessity in June of 2010, Mikey and the Scallywags met busking on the streets of Galway and are still based on the West Coast of Ireland. Renowned for their energetic and engaging live performances, the initial quartet of guitar, banjo, fiddle and double bass were joined by drums and keys to create a melodic and beat driven sound with elements of bluegrass, gypsy, hip-hop and swing.

From being called 'flamboyant folksters' to being labelled 'an energetic and irreverent crew of punk rock newcomers' by Hotpress, Mikey and the Scallywags have been busy since their inception playing in venues and at festivals across the country. The 2013 festival circuit saw the band hit the main stage at Knockanstockan, as well as headline slots at Body and Soul and on the Electric Picnics Salty Dog stage.

Now with three highly successful years under their belts, 3500 copies of the Living in the Light Ep sold and a fortune spent on new tyres, Mikey and the Scallywags are plotting their next recording while still keeping up a busy live schedule into 2014.
