In 2005 this three mexican talents got together for the first time to pay tribute to Rockdrigo Gonzalez one of the most important singer/songwriters in Mexican rock history who tragically died in the earthquake ocurred in Mexico City in 1985.

Poncho Figueroa: actor and former bassist from Santa Sabina. (famous
mexican rock band)
Gustavo Jacob: producer, guitarist, arranger.
Ricardo Jacob: drummer, producer and journalist.
After that they started playing their music in several forums in Mexico City including the very important Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris theatre, Zocalo de la Ciudad de México, the International Contemporary Cinema Film Festival (FICCO) 2007 with the awarded film director John Cameron Mitchell, The Ollin kan Festival 2010, The Vive Latino festival 2013, and the San Marcos National Fair 2013.

Los Jaigüey seek to bind rock, funk and film in their work formula, each song is like a little screenplay.

For Los Jaigüey, their main interest in the lyrics is the modern mexican way of life both socially and spiritually with a humanist and humorous touch. Their songs, mostly are stories or situations told by some character always familiar for the listener.

At a concert, Los Jaigüey always leave an open microphone for people in the audience who want to give a message to others.

Humor is an important part of the presentations, sometimes with a touch of irony, and sometimes with a more reflexive mood. For Los Jaigüey to show their ability as instrumentalists is not their most important goal but the songs and their content.

Los Jaigüey are just pure rock music, the simple and essential connection with people, the mix of images and mutants textures with the rhythm and energy of rock music.

“Los Jaigüey”, their first album (2009) was a Productora de Onda production and was distributed by Fonarte Latino.

In 2013 Haciendo Tiempo (Doing time), their second album, was presented at the Vive Latino 2013 festival in México City.

Los Jaigüey´s second release “Haciendo Tiempo” was selected as one of the best albums in 2013 according the Rolling Stone magazine.
