Lie Ins

Other // Dublin, Dublin

With Michael Stevens on guitar/songwriting and Ruan van Vliet on drums, Lie Ins’ sociopolitical (and maybe sociopathic) swipes, wisecracking humour and heartfelt balladry have beguiled and bewildered Irish audiences in equal measure at their high-octane gigs. “Death to Lie Ins” was released on Popical Island in early 2013 and has received plaudits at home and abroad.

"an album that crackles with wit and vigour" - Alternative Ulster.
"a bright, breezy and much-needed injection of sonic sunshine" - Hot Press
"an accomplished collection of garage pop nuggets that doesn’t take itself too seriously" - We are Noise
"witty and romantic post-punk tunes in which Michael Stevens sounds like Edwyn Collins's Irish cousin" - Sunday Business Post
"[Lie Ins] place equal weight on absurdity and brevity, as their thrashy lo-fi blasts of guitar and drums work brilliantly on the gleefullly frantic Cold Comfort and the charmingly ragged Universal Truth." - The Ticket
"With jangly, infectious melodies and a sense of mischief in the witty lyrics ‘Death To Lie Ins’ rattles along at a fine pace, slowing only to reflect on some wryly observed reminiscences." - Goldenplec
"sardonic, comedic, bizarre, surreal, and some nifty pop hooks" - Thumped.com
" Anyone with a spare 40 or so minutes should go listen to their ‘Death To Lie Ins’ album on bandcamp. When they’re done doing that, they should go tell other people to do same." - Brian Kelly of So Cow
