Glassgears

Alternative // Dublin, Dublin

Glassgears formed in early 2013 when singer/songwriter/rhythm guitarist Rachel McDermott (Ray) was introduced through divine intervention, and with help from the internet, to these friendly pair of musicians: lead guitarist Luke O’Sullivan (Pedals) and bassist/wanna be guitarist (six string bass) Thomas O’Heriban (Mr. T). When the three met, the skies opened and a band name was selected, Glassgears. This reflected a refined medley of funk/punk/rock creating a carefully tuned prog-punk machine. At long last and after plenty of jamming, Ross Dillon (bionic man) showed up with perfectly fitting beats and the circle was complete.
Bassist Mr. T, was formerly of Lucid, and drummer Ross, spent many years drumming for Nanobot. The members of Glassgears have previously played a multitude of shows in Dublin city and also professionally recorded sounds.

The band has released their debut EP "The Right Side" in July 2014. The album contains four songs recorded earlier on in 2014 in the legendary Windmill Lane Recording Studios in Dublin. It was engineered and mixed by Paddy Crosse, Mastered by Karl Gibbons and Produced by Paddy Crosse and Glassgears.
Artwork for the CD was provided by renowned Irish digital artist Ellen McDermott.

Glassgears' music has been played by Dan Hegarty in his daily show 'The Alternative' on Irish national radio RTE 2FM; the band has been also mentioned in Hot Press, GoldenPlec and the EP has been reviewed by Stephen White in his music-orientated blog The Last Mixed Tape.
