freezerRoom
Cork, County Cork
Dark electronic pioneers freezerRoom are a fascinating collaboration of musicians and producers encapsulating some of the finest contemporary talent on the Irish music scene.
With an EP on the prestigious Go Deep label already under their belt which included remixes from internationally acclaimed house producers At Jazz and Fish Go Deep, the band have been diligently recording their follow-up over the last few months and preparing for a string of upcoming live shows this year.
The group hinges on producer Graham White, formerly the backbone of successful Cork electronic band The Shades, who upon his recent return from the bright lights of New York has applied his big apple experience to fine tune freezerRoom’s ambitious productions and ice-cool live performances. Selecting the finest musical contributors was no mean feat but the band now bursts with talent.
Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Elaine Dowling leads the live band on vocals. Despite her tender years the young Cork songster has grabbed the attention of several big name promoters being whisked off to perform at festivals in the UK supporting acts such as The Go Team as well as successfully touring Ireland and the U.S. with her own EP Time Under Tension.
Bassist Rory Dempsey and Graham have been working together for many years since the pair met as part of Cork downbeat act The Shades. The magic of the internet allowed them to continue to create music together while Rory moved to London to study classical double bass at the Royal College of Music. He regularly plays with orchestras there and in Ireland, and also works as a session musician. He has appeared with Unkle, John Cale and Jamie Cullum among others. He has also been a member of energetic Irish house act Cartoon and has recorded extensively for other people on both electric and upright bass.
Also featuring on this release are Diarmuid Galvan on guitar and Jean Michel Cavallo on drums of Slow Motion Heroes. Well-known producer & dj Colm K (Bastard Jazz and Brownswood/FYE) and Cork trombonist Eoghan Kelly. Former Shades vocalist, composer and playwright Ray Scannell has also joined on backing vocal duties along with Andrew Phillpott (We collect Enemies) who allowed his West Cork stash of old synths to be abused.
This new release includes seven new songs as well as the previously released EP tracks.
