DANNY BURNS
Donegal born US based musician gets ready for debut Irish commercial release produced by
Grammy-nominated producer, Warren Huart
“OFF THE GRID” EP
Released December 2011
A rising star on the New Orleans music scene, Danny Burns who hails from Donegal, has been working with Grammy-nominated record producer Warren Huart this last year to create his debut album, which is penciled for release in both UK & Ireland via IRL in Spring 2012.
However, ahead of then we present Burns' debut EP “Off The Grid” by way of a taster for the album to come and as an introduction to this particular Donegal man.
“Off The Grid” is an infectious up-tempo five-track piece of work. In this writer’s opinion, it conveys Danny’s love of his current residence in the USA and gels this perfectly with his Irish influences. Danny plans on bringing his music home this December! Live dates currently being finalized will be announced shortly.
Huart (The Fray, James Blunt, Matisyahu) has pulled at the roots of Burns’ Irish blood, cultivating his passion, and showcasing Danny’s narrative songwriting, unique vocals and soulful delivery.
Danny has been touring since the age of 17, learning his craft on the road, playing and living in New York, Nashville, New Orleans and Chicago, and has extensive experience on the European & Scandinavian circuits.
Influences are drawn not only from his traditional upbringing, but also from legendary singer/songwriters such as John Martyn, Van Morrison, Richard Thompson, and Christy Moore.
This Donegal man has also drawn great inspiration from the culture and passion of his adoptive city New Orleans, which he connected with soon after first arriving there in 2004, rapidly establishing a loyal fan base. Since setting up home in the city he also recorded and performed with legendary New Orleans musicians George Porter, Jr. (The Meters) and Mean Willie Green (Neville Brothers Band, Bob Dylan).
Closer to home, Danny Burns has performed with the cream of Irish talent including The Hot House Flowers, Kila, Damien Dempsey, Paddy Casey, Slide, Solas, and Karen Casey while also featuring in the critically acclaimed documentary about Irish legend, Shane MacGowan, “The Fairytale of New York”. www.dannyburns.net | www.facebook.com/dannyburnsmusic
