Creatures

Other // Dublin

‘Creatures’ is the most recent project from multi-instrumentalist Conor Brennan. Initially formed in 2009, Creatures released their first E.P. - ‘The Rises & Falls from a Fly on the Wall’ in 2010. The recording was a collection of stories which capture the beauty & complexity, the love & loss within relationships between family, strangers, insects & lovers. Written, arranged and predominantly recorded by Brennan while mixed by Stephen O' Brian (Hal), the songs incorporate a variety of instruments including acoustic, classical, electric & bass guitar, glockenspeile, clarinet, cello, vintage organs and piano, with a little help from members of uber popular Dublin band’s of that era; ‘Reader’s Wives’, 'The Thrills' & ‘The Chapters’. However it’s live that these songs truly came to life as Brennan’s rich and versatile voice tells these tales through melodic vocals & layers of harmonies while accompanied by a talented & rather interesting backing band.

Despite a few thousand applicants, Creatures were selected to play the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival 2010 which coincided with a string of gigs. Now ...This was all of 6 years ago by the way. Soonafter & having put Creatures to the side, Brennan went on to form the band 'TransAutoRadio', a multi-instrumentalist project that had huge success with their first E.P. release '3', playing headline shows at Crawdaddy, The Sugar Club, Whelans and a string of low key Irish festivals. The band were invited to record at the infamous Studio 8 by Dan Hegarty, 2fm ("Great, Great Stuff" said Dan Hegarty).

With TransAutoRadio disbanded a few years back, Brennan spent some time travelling the world & living in Vietnam, Cambodia & Central America. Having recently (November 2016) returned from the Philippines and armed with a wealth of new material, Creatures have come back to life once more & the current set up includes multiple vocals, guitars, clarinet and violin.
