Alex Tierney is a 24 year old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Dublin Ireland, who merges 80s inspired catchy pop with introspective folk songwriting, often tied together by subtle atmospheric textures, hypnotic dampened piano and baritone guitar. His music is inspired by a broad range of artists, across many genres including Bon Iver, Dijon, Ryan Beatty, The Japanese House, Caroline Polachek and everything in between.
Alex's music caught the ear of Lewis Capaldi who invited him to open his show at Dublin's iconic Olympia Theatre during his last tour before the pandemic, wowing the crowd with stripped back versions of his originals. His singles Over The Maybes, Painkiller, and Settle For (21) also caught the attention of One Direction's Niall Horan, who included Painkiller during his takeover of the Breath Of Fresh Eire Spotify Editioral playlist, when promoting “The Show”, his latest album.
He's received big support from iHeartRadio, MTV, Vevo, Apple, Spotify, Amazon and more, with around 2.4 million streams across all platforms. Over The Maybes was also “Single of the Week” on RTE’s 2FM national radio on its’ release.
Amongst his co-writes, Alex co-wrote the Carrie Baxter single “You” which was featured in the Eva Green movie “Nocebo” which had a US/Europe cinema release and is now on Netflix and other major streaming services. Another co-written song “For You & I” for 1000 Beasts with Alex as featured vocalist has passed the million-stream mark. Alex was also a writer/vocalist on the recent single “Lost” for Irish duo Volleyball who supported Picture This on their recent British tour.
Alex also completed Nell Mescal’s Irish Tour as Special Guest including his first performance in Dublin’s Academy. Previous tours have included supporting Lyra, Skinny Living & Tim Chadwick.
