Whistle

Whistle are a lively and fun band who play Americana-style music reflecting their strong bluegrass and country music influences and mixing their catalogue of original songs with classic old-timey tunes. They specialise in multi-part vocal harmonies and play guitar, banjo, violin, bass, mandolin, percussion and more.

Whistle have been together over 15 years, with extensive experience playing in venues and major festivals all over Ireland. There are six members in the band, all of whom sing and play. Jerome rocks the mandolin while Des is on guitar and Carl is the man on the banjo. Enid plays a mean violin, Andy is on bass and Al is the percussionist.

Influences range from the Avett Brothers through Flatt & Scruggs to Johnny Cash, Old Crow Medicine Show, Lumineers, Crosby Stills & Nash, Warren Zevon, Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen, the Ricky Skaggs and many more – these are big names and there's something for everyone in there.
